Things are getting very busy in Falcao-land, baby-wise that is! As of a few weeks ago I have weekly appointments at the perinatologists office in their Preterm Birth Prevention Program. For those of you not
familiar with twin pregnancies, 50% of twins typically come before 35 weeks, and 50% after. That means we have a 50/50 chance of having premature babies. That is definitely NOT in our plan, so we are doing everything we can to prevent that! In addition, I have an OB appointment every two weeks- so I feel like I am constantly in appointments!
The nursery is starting to come together. We have been advised to have the house “ready for babies” by the time I am 32 weeks, so we have about 7 weeks to do just that! Eric has already put together one crib and the changing table/dresser, and I have actually started trying to organize the clothes we have been given. Eeeek it feels like there is so much to do and learn! I think I have books hidden all over the house ranging from mothering multiples, to baby 411 to sleep habits! By the time they get here I’ll probably know a tiny bit about a lot of things, but not a lot about anything! There will be a whole lot of trial and error going on at our house! I guess that’s just the way it goes 
Tonight was our first childbirth class. Eric is sick (poor guy!) so I had to go alone. Ummm….yikes- overwhelming! Even though I was there when Amelia was born, it’s a whole other thing when it’s YOUR body all this stuff is going to happen to! Although the chances are high I’ll have a c-section, we figured it’s probably best to be educated just in case.
Let’s see, what else? Last week we had our first growth scan. Both babies were on target for their gestational age compared to single babies, so that’s great. Baby boy was 1 pound 10 ounces and baby girl was 1 pound 7 ounces. Our next scan will be in a few weeks to check to make sure they are both growing on schedule and proportionately to each other.
Eric and I are geting very excited. He can now consistently feel the babies moving on the outside, and I have started feeling baby hiccups! I can definitely tell that the nesting instinct has kicked in for both of us. We have had so much fun on our weekends doing things for the babies. We can’t WAIT to meet these little guys!
